We've now finished (OK, Kathleen now has finished) the production of invitations!
Here are some things we've learned about making your own invitation (OK, some things that John has learned about making invitations):
1. Apparently it IS important that the colour of the invitations match the colour scheme of the wedding....
2. There is more than one shade of IVORY in the world - and even more shades of GREEN!
3. The hand written addresses on the envelopes should be left to the person whose handwriting is legible (and having messy handwriting is a good way to get out of this task).
4. Glue sticks and cat hair do NOT mix. (Cats also like ribbon)
5. Self-adhesive postage stamps are a GOD-SEND!
In all fairness, John did do some of the work - a bit of gluing, a fair amount of label sticking, and stamping. The only thing we have left to do are to actually stuff the envelopes with the invites, seal the envelopes, and to emboss the backs of them. Kathleen did an amazing job with the design and production of the invitations, and I'm sure you will appreciate the hard work and love that went into them.
In other news - we are extremely excited that the snow is finally melting, not quite as excited about the lake in the front yard, or the minor seepage of water into the basement - but we will overcome these minor distractions. We've begun to discuss plans for the backyard, and general floral landscaping for the front yard and back yard gardens. Unfortunately the plans for the life sized porcelain statue / fountain with Bach playing the harpsichord on the front lawn has been vetoed temporarily.
We've been at the Barbeque pretty much every night, enjoying the warmth of the western sun in the evening - it's going to be a lovely place to enjoy the Alberta sunshine, and a great place to host pre and post wedding festivities.
In other exciting news - We've received our engagment pictures - Here is one of our favourites:
